A major European force in semolina corn maize, Kalizea is able to rely on the expertise of its teams and an organisational structure across three sites in France, Poland and Romania to help, serve and satisfy its customers.

Strong business growth, despite market complexity

The year was one of strong growth in Romania, largely as a result of the success of its teams’ sales initiatives, a strong local market and export sales to brewers. After a challenging harvest, lower maize quality in France resulted in supply difficulties. Rising energy costs have impacted all sites. The year was also marked by management team changes and the arrival of a new Managing Director to re-energise the business.

And exciting prospects going forward

The outlook for 2022/2023 is better, despite the structurally complex maize market in France and the wider Europe. The large number of projects now under consideration include the opening of a new production line in Romania to meet customer demand. Process optimisation and the redesign of production management systems have become even more pressing priorities for Kalizea as the company strives to reduce energy consumption and its carbon footprint. Work is also underway on more effectively integrating the commitments set out in the VIVESCIA Group LINK sustainable development strategy.

Kalizea in Romania: Sales volume up by 37%, and revenue by 77%!

Officially opened in May 2019, Kalizea’s Romanian facility at Slobozia had a very good 2021/2022 financial year, resulting in the local teams having to make the switch to 3x8 shift working at the start of 2021. With a year-on-year revenue increase of 77%, the teams achieved their sales volume target a full 18 months ahead of forecast.
